Jammu, Feb 07 (KNO): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said his government has no plans to create new administrative units in Jammu & Kashmir. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly during Question Hour, the CM-who is also the Minister in charge, Revenue-said that the government has no intention of creating new administrative units in the Union Territory. He said the units which were opened in the past have to be operationalised fully and staffed adequately. “The MLAs often complain to me that administrative units do not have offices and facilities. Both things cannot run together,” he said, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). The Chief Minister added that these units have not yet been fully operationalised. “Our first responsibility is to make them fully operational. Thereafter, wherever gaps exist or new administrative units need to be opened, that will be considered,” he said. The administrative units were last created in 2014 when Omar Abdullah was Chief Minister of the erstwhile state. The Government then created 659 administrative units which includes 46 sub-divisions, 135 Tehsils, 177 community development blocks and 301 Niabats—(KNO)
